This motorized bicycle was built from what’s believed to be an early 1930’s Hawthorne Bicycle. Headlamp is a carbide acetylene lamp. Acetylene gas lamps were used to illuminate buildings, as lighthouse beacons, and as headlights on motor-cars and bicycles. These lamps were widely used in mining in the early twentieth century.
